Mamta (Ansuhka Sharma) and Mauji (Varun Dhawan) are married and live in a small town. Mamta is occupied with household chores and Mauji an illiterate works in a shop. Mauji's ancestors had their own tailoring business which was shut down with his grandfather's demise. Mauji quits his job and decides to revive the ancestoral business. His wife Mamta also backs his decision. However, the new business soon runs into financial problems. Mamta and Mauji then start working in a designer production house but soon realize that their talent is being cheated.
Movie shows the relationship between a husband and wife who complement each other. Like a 'needle and thread', both indispensable and thus titled Sui Dhaaga. The story is about struggle, hardship and how a husband and wife relation in a less privileged environment share the woes of struggle.
The editing is crisp with virtually no unwanted shots. Director Sharat Katariya has given another great film after Dum Lagake Haisha.
Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma are good in their respective roles. Veteran actor Raghubir Yadav as Mauji's father is wonderful. Other actors are also good. But the standout performer is Mauji's mother played by Yamini Dass with her great comic timing.
Music of the movie by Anu Malik has great songs. The lyrics are also wonderfully written by Varun Grover. Overall a good music album to hear.
It is a well made movie and a must watch for the struggles and hardships facing a new start-up business.

Stree Movie Review
Chanderi Village has for many years been experiencing an unusual phenomena. This is about a mysterious woman known in the village as STREE who seems to appear every year for a few days during a Hindu festival. The mystery revolves around men disappearing with all their clothes left behind.
Vicky (Rajkumar Rao) is a happy go lucky small time tailor in the village. Vicky falls in love with a woman (Shraddha Kapoor) who does not belong to the village, but comes around the same time each year to investigate this mystery. Her behaviour however make his friends Bittu (Aparshakti Khurana) and Jaana (Abhishek Banerjee) suspicious.
How will Vicky react to this situation? Will he be able to save his friend and other abducted men from Stree? How can Chanderi Village get rid of Stree? For all this and more watch Stree.
Stree is the first ever horror comedy movie in Bollywood. It is believed to be based on a real life phenomenon. Movie is more comical and less scary. Movie editing and direction are good. Director Amar Kaushik in his debut movie has done a fabulous job as he keeps the viewers entertained throughout. The story of the movie is good and well-written.
Rajkumar Rao once again gives a great performance as Vicky. Aparshakti Khurana and Shraddha Kapoor are good. Abhishek Banerjee is the surprise package and gives a great performance. Pankaj Tripathi once again leaves a mark. Vijay Raaz in his brief role is wonderful.
The music of the movie is ok with just two good songs Nazar Na Lag Jaaye and Milegi Milegi.
Overall Stree is an entertainer for everyone.

Crazy Rich Asians Movie Review
Nick (Henry Golding) who is based in USA has been invited for his best friend's wedding in Singapore, which also happens to be his hometown. Nick's girlfriend Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) who is in a relationship with Nick has also been invited for the wedding. Rachel is happy to accompany Nick for the wedding.
Nick's family is rich and wealthy. His siblings and cousins are quirky and dysfunctional except his sister Astrid (Gemma Chan) who is the matured of the lot. The socialites including friends of Eleanor (Michelle Yeoh) are also jealous of Rachel. Rachel is not from a very rich family.
Nick likes Rachel and wants to marry her, but Eleanor has some other plans for her son. She dislikes Rachel because she is too passionate about her own ambitions, unlike a local Singaporean girl. But Astrid supports Nick and Rachel's relationship.
Will Nick finally marry Rachel? Will Eleanor accept Rachel as her daughter-in-law? For all this and more you will have to watch Crazy Rich Asians.
The movie is an entertaining romcom based on a book by the same title. Movie editing is good. Movie reflects Singapore values and human emotions, though opinions of locals may differ.
All the actors have played their part well including the lead actors. Henry Golding makes a promising debut as Nick. Constance Wu, Michelle Yeoh and Astrid do a good job as well. All other actors have played their part well.
Direction of the movie is good by John M Chu showing good chemistry between the lead actors.
Crazy Rich Asians should pave way for more Asian movies in Hollywood.
Overall Crazy Rich Asians is a great watch for everyone and in particular the Singaporeans.

Soorma Movie Review
Soorma as the tagline says is based on the "Greatest Comeback Story of Hockey Legend Sandeep Singh". Some may not be aware of his achievements.
Interestingly Sandeep (Diljit Dosanjh) has no interest in hockey. Whereas his elder brother Bikramjeet (played by Angad Bedi) is a State level hockey player wanting to pursue hockey as a career and represent India. Sandeep on the other hand, is more interested in going to the fields to chase birds which disrupt the crops, which he does using a hockey stick and stones. The family lives in a small Punjab village Shahabad where hockey sport is the pulse with youngsters.
Sandeep comes across Harpreet, a family friend (played by Tapsee Pannu) a budding hockey player and gets attracted to her. Both fall in love with each other. Bikramjeet despite his talent is not selected in the national hockey team. He instead decides to bring forward his brother Sandeep because of his drag-flick ability which he developed during childhood chasing birds. Bikramjeet persuades his brother to pursue hockey as a career, as this will also help Sandeep in getting a job.
With elder brother Bikramjeet’s motivation and inspiration from his love Harpreet, Sandeep decides to pursue hockey seriously. He gets selected in the national team and represents India in International tournaments winning matches single handedly, however one fine day he meets with an almost fatal accident. One will have to watch the movie to know what happens to Sandeep thereafter.
Soorma is a very clean movie with crisp editing and keeps the viewer glued. Direction by Shaad Ali is good and can be considered as one of his best after Saathiya and Bunty Aur Babli. Credit also goes to the actor and first time producer Chitrangada Singh for backing this project and bringing forward this untold story.
Diljit Dosanjh shines in his brilliant portray of Sandeep Singh and gives his finest performance so far. Angad Bedi is excellent in his portrayal as Sandeep's older brother. Vijay Raaz leaves a mark once again with a good performance as the hockey coach with his mix of wit and humor. Performance by Tapsee Pannu, Satish Kaushik and Kulbhushan Kharbanda is flawless. Music of the movie by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is good and lyrics wonderfully penned by Gulzar.
Bollywood has produced many successful sports biopics, however Soorma will inspire and motivate all age groups because it has a different story to tell.
Overall a must watch.

Dhadak is a love story where Madhukar(Ishan Kapoor) a middle-class boy has won a food competition and is receiving the prize from Parthavi (Jahnvi Kapoor), a strong and independent girl from a rich political family. Both Madhu and Parthavi study in the same college.
One day Madhu's friend Purshottam (Shridhar Watsar) finds Parthavi bathing in the lake and informs Madhu about it. Madhu comes to the lake and impresses Parthavi. Both Madhu and Parthavi develop feelings for each other but are unaware of it.
Madhu tries to avoid Parthavi based on the promise made to his father, but is unable to keep to his promise.
Both Madhu and Parthavi admit falling in love with each other.
On Parthavi's B'day both Madhu and Parthavi are discovered kissing each other by Parthavi's brother and father politician Ratan Singh (Ashutosh Rana). Madhu is thrashed by Parthavi's brother and his goons
One day both Madhu and Parthavi finally manage to escape from the police and elope together.
What happens next for that you will have to watch the movie.
Dhadak is a remake of the hit Marathi movie Sairat meaning wild and carefree love.
Dhadak is engaging throughout thanks to the direction by Shashank Khaitan who has given us hits like Badrinath Ki Dulhania last year. Movie is another winner for Karan Johar and Shashank.
Of the performances Ishaan Kapoor is talented and looks promising. This actor is sure to go a long way. Jahnvi Kapoor daughter of late Sridevi also makes a great debut and looks promising. Both these actors in their debut movie have done a fabulous job. Ashutosh Rana as the politician once again leaves a mark and looks fierce. Another mention for Madhu's friend Purshottam who is entertaining.
The music of the movie is melodious and soulful. Two songs from Sairat have been taken in this movie the hit Zingaat and Pehli Baar. Other songs are also very good. Great music by Ajay-Atul. Another winner by them.
Overall Dhadak is a fresh and appealing story for everyone to experience love.

Sanju Movie Review
Sanju is based on the life of actor and personality Sanjay Dutt' s controversial life.
Movie narration starts which takes us back to the days when his father Sunil Dutt (Paresh Rawal) was planning to launch his son Sanju in Rocky, whilst around the same time, helping his wife Nargis Dutt (Manisha Koirala) who was being treated for cancer. Even before the start of his career under the influence of His opportunist friend Zubin (Jim Sarbh), Sanju finds the easy solution for all his, supposedly own created problems, which is drugs and alcohol.
Sanju's mother Nargis Dutt is taken to New York for treatment. This leads Sanju to further alcoholism and drugs. In New York he meets Kamli (Vicky Kaushal) in the hospital, where Nargis was hospitalised. Whilst Kamli was just a fan of Nargis as an actress, however this leads to a good friendship between Kamli and Sanju.
In another story narration when Sanju is getting on with his career in Bollywood he is accused of acquiring and keeping rifles in his house. After the Bombay bomb blasts in 1993, Sanju is charged for illegal possession of arms and is sent to jail. The Bombay High Court delivers its verdict and sentences Sanju (Ranbir Kapoor) to five years imprisonment for violating the Arms Act. Sanju's wife approaches the high profile London based writer Winnie Diaz for writing a biography on Sanju with a hope to bring the facts forward on Sanju's life. At first she refuses, but later on she agrees.
Whilst Kamli, his friend endeavours to guide Sanju out from drugs and liquor.
Did Sanju come out of drugs? Did Sanju get into any other controversies in his life? How were Sanju's relationships with his father and Kamli and what role they played in his life? What about his love life and girflfriends? For all this and more you will have to watch Sanju.
Movie is gripping throughout thanks to the great direction, story telling and the crisp editing. Another winner from Rajkumar Hirani after his previous successful outings. This can be called as one of his best works.
Coming to performances Ranbir Kapoor excels and gives his career best performance as Sanju. He is the heart and soul of the movie. It appears as if Sanjay Dutt is playing himself. That's how good he is. Vicky Kaushal as Kamli is superb ans once again proves his mettle. This actor will go a long way. Paresh Rawal as Suni Dutt gives a brilliant performance. These three actors are the strong pillars of the movie. Anushka Sharma as Winnie Diaz is good. Nice to see Manisha Koirala after so long. Other actors in the movie are also good and play their parts as the script demands.
The music of the movie is soulful and nice with all original songs. Main Badhiya is nicely sung by Sunidhi and Sonu Nigam and reminds us of the Golden Era of Bollywood. Kar Har Maidan probably one of the best songs of the movie is brilliantly sung by Sukhvinder and Shreya. Another good song Baba Bolta Hai which takes on media is also good and well picturised.
People may have different opinions on Sanjay Dutt a criminal being glorified with this movie and shown as a victim. But that is the director's take on his life and one has to respect that.
Overall this movie is a must watch and is recommended.
I am giving ****.5 stars for the movie.

Raazi Movie Review
Raazi is an espionage thriller set against the backdrop of the period prior to Indo-Pak war in 1971. It is based on a book "Calling Sehmat" which is a true story written by Harinder Sikka.
Hidayat (played by Rajit Kapur) is an Indian, businessman based in Kashmir. In the course of his cross-border business, he acquires intel data which he passes on to the Intelligence Bureau as a true Indian citizen and patriot. Whilst he wishes to continue ,but his health restricts him. He then decides to send his daughter Sehmat (played by Alia Bhatt) to Pakistan as an Indian secret spy agent by getting her married to his close friend Brigadier Syed's son Iqbal Syed (played by Vicky Kaushal), both serving the Pakistani army. Sehmat undergoes intensive training under an Indian Inteligence agent Khalid Mir (played by Jaideep Ahlawat) before leaving for Pakistan.
Across the border in Pakistan Sehmat gets married to Iqbal Syed and assimilates in her new (Pakistani Army) family. She then gets onto the job of collecting and passing Pak intel infromation to IB.
Will Sehmat succeed in her mission and return safely to Kashmir? For all this and more you will have to watch the movie.
The editing of the movie is crisp and tight. The story of the movie keeps the audience glued to their seats.
Alia Bhatt once again shines and gives one of her best performances as Sehmat, a simple and naive girl. Alia is challenging herself with every movie and is raising the bar as an actor. She is supremely talented with her expressions and acting. Jaideep Ahlawat gives a stellar and one of his best performances to date as Khalid Mir. Rajit Kapoor as Sehmat's father Hidayat also leaves a mark. The other good performances of the movie are Shishir Sharma (Brigadier Syed and father of Iqbal) and Vicky Kaushal as Iqbal Syed.
The music of the movie by Shankar-Ehsan Loy is one of the best albums this year which evokes patriotism. There are only four songs in this movie and all of them are good. Credit for the music also goes to the lyrics wonderfully written by the great Gulzar. Gulzar is one of the best in this era.
This is definitely one of the best movies of Meghana Gulzar to date. Her direction is outstanding after her last outing Talwar.
Overall Raazi rewrites the spy thriller genre and is one of the best movies coming in recent times. It is a must watch for everyone which is not to be missed and is absolutely recommended.
**** stars.

October Movie Review
October starts off with a group of trainees doing internship in a five-star hotel in Delhi. One of the interns Dan (Varun Dhawan) has a careless attitude and does not like his job. His co-worker Shiuli (Newcomer Banita Sandhu) is not just calm and composed, but is also very good at her job. On New Year's eve Shiuli meets with a terrible accident. Knowing about this Dan visits her in the hospital where she is battling for life. Subsequently Dan makes repeated visits to the hospital to see Shiuli.
Will Shiuli come out of danger and survive? What attracts Dan towards her? Has it got anything to do with love?
For all this and more you will have to watch the movie.
The movie direction and screenplay is crisp and tight. Movie keeps you glued to the chair and on the edge. There is not a dull moment in the movie.
Of the performances Varun Dhawan gives one of his best performance in a serious role as Dan. Banita Sandhu makes a great debut with her expressions and acting. Shiuli's mother played by Gitanjali Rao is also very good. Other actors who are Dan's co-workers and hotel staff are also good.
This movie is a songless film and one doesn't really feel the need for songs. Music of this movie can be heard separately which has some melodious and soothing tunes by Shantanu Moira, Anupam Roy and Abhishek Arora.
The direction by Shoojit Sircar is once again superb after his last outing Piku. He is a maverick and among the best directors of our film industry. Dialogues by Juhi Chaturvedi also deserve a special mention as they are spot on. The photography and cinematography of the movie are also very good.
Overall October is a must watch and is recommended. It is something very new which so far may not have been seen in Indian Cinema. It is a not a love story but a story about love.

Shape Of Water Movie Review
Elisa (Sally Hawkins) is a mute woman who is working as a cleaning lady in a high-security US government area. One day she comes across an amphibious creature brought for research from South America in a water tank. She develops a unique bond with this creature and her life changes forever. During this process the creature's fate and very survival is in the hands of a marine reserach biologist from Russia.
Can the biologist protect the creature from danger? What will be the turn of events in Elisa's life? For all this and more you will have to watch the movie.
The movie and the screenplay are good.
A unique story of relationship between a creature and a human which has been depicted well.
Of the performances Sally Hawkins is superb as Elisa with her great expressions and acting. The other good performances include Elisa' s father Giles (Richard Jenkins), Elisa's friend Zelda (Octavia Spencer), Marine Biologist Dr Robert (Michael Stuhlbarg) and of course the cunning Colonel Richard (Michael Shannon).
The music of the movie is good. Reminds you of the English musicals that we have seen in the past.
Overall Shape of Water is a fascinating movie. It's strictly for adults only due to its content. With 13 Oscar nominations this year, it won four Oscars namely Best Picture, Best Director, Best Production Design and Best Original Music Score.
Watch it.

Aiyaary
Aiyaary means use of tricks to cheat or deceive someone.
Aiyaary is a movie on Government, defence deals, espionage and stuff which may not appear in the media.
Colonel Abhay Singh (Manoj Bajpayee) leads a covert operation with a selected group of army officers. Things go wrong when Major Jai Bakshi (Siddharth Malhotra) a member of the select team becomes a rogue. He plans to sell the information to an arms dealer based in London. His mentor Colonel Abhay Singh an honest army officer is given 36 hours to track down his protege. On the other hand a Retired Lt. General Gurinder Singh (Kumud Mishra) approaches the Chief of Army Staff (Vikram Gokhale) to convince him to buy state of the art weapons at four times the price, with an assured kickback. Will the Army Chief sign the deal? Will Jay be successful in his intentions? Are there any more hidden secrets or will Colonel Abhay Singh finally track down his protege? What will be the next move of Gurinder Singh? For this and more you will have to watch the movie.
The movie like usual Neeraj Pandey movies is a gripping and taut thriller right from the start till the end. The characters are slowly revealed as the movie progresses. The screenplay of the movie is very good.
Of the performances Manoj Bajpayee gives a brilliant performance as Colonel Abhay Singh. Siddharth Malhotra also gives a good performance. Other actors who are good and leave a mark are Kumud Mishra, Naseeruddin Shah, Vikram Gokhale, Adil Hussain, Anupam Kher and Pooja Chopra. Rakul Preet Singh the lover of Siddharth looks promising and is also good.
The music of the movie is good especially the song Lae Dooba wonderfully sung by Sunidhi Chauhan which has good melody to it.
Direction of Neeraj Pandey is superb as usually seen with his movies. There are no unnecessary scenes in the movie and the director does manage to keep the audience in grip and on the edge.
Overall Aiyaary is a smart thriller which is a must watch and should not be missed. Another winner by Neeraj Pandey.

This movie is set somewhere in the 13th century when Jalaluddin Khilji (Raza Murad) of Khilji Dynasty from Afgahnistan wanted to conquer Delhi. His nephew Alauddin Khilji( Ranveer Singh) gets married to Mehrunissa (Aditi Rao Hydari). But in actual he is a womanizer.
On the other hand Maharawal Ratan Singh (Shahid Kapoor) the king of Mewar falls in love with a beautiful princess from Singhal Dynasty Padmaavati (Deepika Padukone) who saves his life during hunting and gets married to her. After marriage Padmaavati becomes the second princess of Mewar after Ratan Singh's first wife Nagmati (played by new actor Anupriya Goenka).
The priest of Mewar is awestruck by Padmaavati's beauty but is punished and asked to leave Mewar when he tries to enter into the private moments of Rawal Singh and Padmaavati.
Meanwhile in Delhi Jalaluddin Khilji is stabbed by the Alauddin who now becomes the King of the Khilji Dynasty. The priest then lands up at Alauddin's court where he gives a description of Padmaavati's beauty to Alauddin and tells him as to how he can make her the queen.
What happens next one must be very familiar with the story and for that you will have to watch the movie.
The movie is based on Rani Padmaavati of Chittor. The screenplay is good but could have been better considering its a movie based on history of Rani Padmaavati. The screen presence of Alauddin could have been reduced. The Jauhar scene is well shot. There is nothing in the movie which created so much of controversy.
Of the performances this is Deepika's career best performance as Queen Padmavati after Piku. Won't be surprised if she sweeps the awards this year. Shahid Kapoor is also brilliant as Ratan Singh. Ranveer Singh is fierce and menacing as the villain Alauddin Khilji and gives a great performance as well. Anupriya Goenka is good. Aditi Rao Hydari in a small and brief role also leaves a mark. Jim Sarbh is also very good. Other supporting actors are good as well.
The music of the movie as usually heard in Bhansali movies is very good especially Ghoomar and Ek Dil Ek Jaan.
Direction of Bhansali is good but could have been better. The costumes and movie sets are amazing and full of grandeur.
Overall Padmaavat is another good movie of Bhansali which deserves to be watched as it depicts the story of Rani Padmaavati' s courage, valour and sacrifice

Fukrey Returns
It starts 1 year later from where it left in its prequel. The Fukras are at crossroads with their past which will help in deciding their future. It's payback time now and the old enemy Bholi Punjaban is back to take Fukras on another deadly ride. Fukras are being masterminded by a certain head honcho and are on a run again. Chucha has this god gifted power of having premonitions about future.
Will the four Fukras play the cards carefully and wisely? Will the Fukras get into problems? Will Chucha come to their rescue once again?
The sequel lives upto the expectations from its prequel with clean humour and comedy. Fukrey Returns is entertaining right from the time it begins. One never really gets bored in between the movie.
The screenplay and direction of the movie are good.
Of the performances Chucha (Varun Sharma) stands out tall as he is too funny and tickles your funny bones. The other big performers are Bholi Punjaban (Richa Chaddha) and Panditji (Pankaj Tripathi) who once again light the screen with their brilliant performances. The other supporting cast of Hunny (Pulkit), Zafar (Ali Fazal) and Lali (Manjot) are once again very good. The other good actor who should get his due after this movie and makes his presence felt is the shrewd and cunning Minister Babulal Bhatia (Rajiv Gupta). The other actors including the actresses are also good.
Music of the movie is good especially Mehbooba song which has been rebooted and is groovy. Would be topping the charts.
Mrigandeep Singh Lamba Director along with Excel Entertainment have another winner in their hand in the form of Fukrey Returns.
Overall Fukrey Returns is a great sequel which entertains one and all. Don't think there will be a third part in the Fukrey series.
