Mamta (Ansuhka Sharma) and Mauji (Varun Dhawan) are married and live in a small town. Mamta is occupied with household chores and Mauji an illiterate works in a shop. Mauji's ancestors had their own tailoring business which was shut down with his grandfather's demise. Mauji quits his job and decides to revive the ancestoral business. His wife Mamta also backs his decision. However, the new business soon runs into financial problems. Mamta and Mauji then start working in a designer production house but soon realize that their talent is being cheated.
Movie shows the relationship between a husband and wife who complement each other. Like a 'needle and thread', both indispensable and thus titled Sui Dhaaga. The story is about struggle, hardship and how a husband and wife relation in a less privileged environment share the woes of struggle.
The editing is crisp with virtually no unwanted shots. Director Sharat Katariya has given another great film after Dum Lagake Haisha.
Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma are good in their respective roles. Veteran actor Raghubir Yadav as Mauji's father is wonderful. Other actors are also good. But the standout performer is Mauji's mother played by Yamini Dass with her great comic timing.
Music of the movie by Anu Malik has great songs. The lyrics are also wonderfully written by Varun Grover. Overall a good music album to hear.
It is a well made movie and a must watch for the struggles and hardships facing a new start-up business.
