This is a story of two identical cousins Karan and Charan(both played by Arjun Kapoor). Karan stays in London and Charan stays in Punjab in India. Both the cousins are poles apart in their personalities. Karan is flamboyant and street-smart, while Charan is simple and honest. Karan is in love with Sweety(Ileana D'Cruz) and Charan is going around with Nafisa(Neha Sharma). Both Karan and Charan are unable to communicate to their family about their respective relationships. This leads to Jitto (Ratna Pathak Shah) Karan's mother fixing Charan's alliance with Binkle(Athiya Shetty), daughter of a wealthy family in London. Charan seeks help of his middle-aged uncle Kartar(Anil Kapoor)to somehow end this alliance. Kartar does stop this alliance, but this leads to a big tiff between Jitto and her brother (Pawan Malhotra), who is Charan's father.
Eventually Charan's family then fixes Charan's alliance with Sweety in Punjab and Karan's family fixes Karan's alliance with Sweety. Charan is not happy about this because he likes Nafisa. Both Karan and Charan are in a soup. When Kartar tries to help them out it leads to confusion and chaos. Will Kartar be a saviour to get Karan and Charan out of this situation? What will happen to Karan and Charan's respective relationships? Will both Karan and Charan be able to communicate with their families about their respective relationships. Will this affect their respective family relations? What happens next for this you will have to watch the movie
The story is not new as it is a tried and tested formula. But what keeps one glued to the movie is the treatment of the story, comedy and humour throughout. There are emotional moments in the movie which are also good.
Anees Bazmee who is known for helming clean comedies like Singh Is King,Welcome,Ready and Welcome Back, has another winner in the form of Mubarakan.
Of the performances, Arjun Kapoor the lead has acted very well as both Karan and Charan. Anil Kapoor also shines as Kartar. Ratna Pathak Shah and Pawan Malhotra are also very good. Ileana D'Cruz and Athiya Shetty are good too. Ileana is improving as an actor with every movie. Athiya maybe a talent to watch. The other supporting actors are also good.
The music of the movie is not bad especially the Goggle song and Hawa Hawa which are already chartbusters and the other song Haathon Mein Thhe Hasty is melodious and nice.
Direction of Anees Bazmee as always is very good.
Overall this is another family entertainer which will entertain the family audiences of all age groups. One looks forward to such family entertainers.
Go for it
